And they turned off the screen. Full results I imagine will be available at http://elections.asuc.org
8:04 - Ali Ansary finishes 21st at 299. Final distribution is 7 Student Action, 3 Apple Engineering, 4 CALServe, 1 Unite Greek, 1 SQULECH!, 1 BCR, 1 DAAP, and 1 Independent.
8:02 - In 19th is Lisa Ang at 308, 20th is Sammy Averbach at 295, Ali Ansary at 292 and Suguey at 284.
8:01 - Travis Garcia finishes in 25th place. Representing co-ops, his vote was redistributed all over.
8:00 - Jeff Manassero makes quota. Jeff Wasserman pushes forward for SQULECH! Ben Narodick was eliminated some time ago.
7:57 - Announcement of Round 17. Katie Robinson of United Greek gets gropped. Julia Harter of Unite Greek gets dropped. 8 candidates outside of the top 20.
7:56 - The program is working now. Vince Law makes quota and is currently being redistributed.
7:54 - Editing complete. Let's see what's going on at CalStuff during this display.
7:51 - I went forth and suggested to the elections council chair of my suggestion below. I dunno if they're going to heed it. A break in the action otherwise. I'll re-edit below to meet my editing standards ([time] - [comment])
7:46 - The problem with letting the person who can modify the program, run the program, is that that person will seek programming solutions that will take time. If you simply let an end user run it, that person will find solutions outside of the programming, such as writing down who was eliminated (order does not matter).
7:45 - It appears some emergency programming is being performed or instructions put into some command line something or other.
7:44 - Well, it shouldn't matter the order of redistribution, as long as they took down which candidates were eliminated. They've saved the log. I'm merely worried about losing the record of who was dropped.
7:42 - It appears that there is a significant problem in the voting. The redistribute button has locked out.
7:40 - About 30 candidates remain. Ben Narodick will probably gain another term, though David Wasserman has more votes than him at the moment.
7:40 - Sitting on the bubble in 19th at 254 is Donald Rizzo, 20th is Sayshu at 245.
7:38 - Andy Ratto just got eliminated with 25.139238 votes.
7:36 - No point counting rounds anymore. In incumbent news, Ben Narodick is 90 votes off of the bubble with 152. SQUELCH! candidates totalling 47 votes are dropping.
7:35 - A message popped on screen: "Congratulations! You have a Constitutional Crisis on your hands!"
7:34 - Tracy gets dropped. No new quota.
7:33 - This will change when candidates with substantial votes close, but there are 9 student action members of the Senate.
7:32 - Lauren Karasek volunteers to drop her 24 votes, nobody new makes quota in round 4.
7:31 - Tracy Ross' 6.13 votes are about to be transferred unless someone else volunteers to drop.
7:30 - Round 3 complete, no new quota. On the bubble in 19th Sammy Averbach at 248, 20th is Sayshu Medicherla at 242, 21st is Liz Han at 228, 22nd is Suguey Hernandez at 219.
7:29 - There are about 50 candidates remaining. Quota still 419, Charles Shin at 406, Vince Law at 400, Jeff Manassero 364, Van Nguyen 318.
7:28 - No one else makes quota after Round 2.
7:27 - More drops: Jane Li of DAAP, and they've scrolled up the list.
7:26 - Also dropping is Yvette Felarca of DAAP, Mayra Ureno of DAAP, Val Moreno of SA, Daniel Brady of SQUELCH! and Simon Ganz of SQUELCH!
7:24 - Dropping out voluntarily is Sapna Mehta of CALServe, Max Besbris of CALServe, and Aaron Brownstein of SQUELCH!, and John Waste of SQUELCH!
7:23 - Dropping candidates are standing near the front. Quota is 419 for the race. At 396 is independent Charles Shin, 395 Vince Law of AE, 347 Jeff Manassero of SA, 305 Van Nguyen of CALServe, 286 Curtis Lee of SA.
7:21 - Ilana Nankin and Eunice Moon of Student Action both make quota in the first round of tabulation.
7:20 - Now we move on to Senate, which will be a long process of dropping and such.
7:19 - Andrew Garvin runs away with the Student Advocate race, with 3200 first place votes. Wins by over 1500 votes.
7:17 - A hush in the room for the external VP race. No candidate makes quota after round 1. No candidate makes quota after round 2. Jason Chu holds off Igo 3717 to 3498. A 219 vote difference.
7:16 - Joyce Liou wins by about 1600 votes. 3662 made the quota.
7:15 - Vishal Gupta wins Executive Vice President by 1200 votes, 4500 to 3300.
7:13 - Oren Gabriel of Student Action wins the Presidency. Lauren finished second, more than 2600 votes behind the 4014 that made the quota.
7:12 - Elections Council Chair Jessica Wren has just explained the rules for dropping out of consideration. The presidential tabulation is about to begin.
7:11 - My executive race predictions were here. To summarize: President - SA, ExecVP - SQUELCH!, AVP - SA, ExtVP - Igor, StuAdv - Garvin.
7:08 - It almost looks like the program is, before my eyes, being edited to work out bugs. I didn't know if they were using a new program, since the one that CalStuff Extended presented seemed to work just fine. Oh, and Ilana Nankin has just walked in with an entourage, with SQUELCH! Presidential candidate Lauren Karasek following close behind.
7:04 - I'll put new updates at the top of the page. Representatives from the League of Women Voters, the independent monitoring agency of these elections. Around me is a nearly filled room filled with ASUC government hopefuls. Hopefully we'll be underway shortly.
