Excuses excuses

I'm making excuses, but I haven't at all kept up with my plans to look awesome for summer. Unfortunately, I haven't been exercising, and I just have this pretty weight bench sitting in my garage, and this treadmill sitting in my family room.

Excuses:
I'm tired after work or classes. Work is legitimite, I'm standing all day, but I only work one or two days a week, and I want to get on the treadmill at least four times a week. The main excuse for not getting on the bench is that my classes end at 7 o'clock three days a week. It's also very cold and dark in my garage, as my door lamp does not have a manual on switch, and we have to depend on a single uncovered low wattage incandescent bulb.

My CS61a equivalent at Laney is kicking ass. I've found a little niche of people who go outside to either smoke or not, or basically bitch simultaneously about how we have to catch up to the instructor. The instructor isn't too bad, anyway. First lab is today.

I'm going to A's FanFest on Saturday!

I had a 14-hour workday last Friday because someone went home sick, and I volunteered to stay until a substitute could be found. There were no substitutes available, so I was at the storefrom 7:45am to 9:45pm. I ran through my four hours of time and a half and got an hour of double time. 16 base hours earned that day. Yummy.

I also got a 25 cent raise that'll be reflected in my paycheck after next. Huzzah.

The New Years Resolutions - Be Fit!

I bought myself my "home gym."

My "home gym" consists of a weight bench with lat pull bar, 100 pound weight set, 5, 8, 10, 12, and 15 pound dumbbells, a mat, and an already existing treadmill.

My goal...look awesome.

I have a hard time getting away from the things on which I've spent money. I should be able to keep this one.

My cholesterol is obscenely high from my family background. I start Lipitor. Hopefully I don't die by 40.

Eulogy for Barry Zito

Barry Zito was an icon for a team that didn't follow the traditions or rules. It wasn't your typical team. The locker room was relaxed, the player's listened to crazy music, grew funny hair not even acceptable in any fashion circles (read: the Swisher reverse goatee). And in the middle of it all, described as a Zen master, was Barry Zito.

Barry was a bit of an enigma. One doesn't know what is next from the mind of that sage. He kept his cool through the short down points of his seasons, and knew how to put together overpowering performances with a simple little 12 to 6.

This community will miss Barry. God bless him on his next journey.
